Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally crossed the 20-lakh mark with the addition of 2,886 fresh cases. With the new cases, Maharashtra’s Covid-19 tally rose to 20,00,878. Maharashtra has also become the first state in the country to reach the 20-lakh Covid-19 caseload mark. The state reported 52 more deaths due to the infection, taking the fatality count to 50,634. Also, 3,980 patients were discharged from hospitals during the day, pushing the tally of recovered people to 19,03,408. The state now has 45,622 active cases of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, India recorded 15,277 fresh cases of the coronavirus disease. The total number of active cases in the country has fallen to 193,650, while the caseload tally stands at 10,611,719. The country continues to be second-most-affected globally, and ranks 13th among worst-hit nations by active cases.
Delhi recorded 228 fresh Covid-19 cases and 10 deaths in last twenty-four hours, as the total number of tests conducted till date crossed the one-crore mark. The infection tally in the city stood at over 6.33 lakh and the death toll mounted to 10,774 with the new fatalities.
The Covid-19 death toll in Haryana rose to 3,000 with three more fatalities, while 133 new cases pushed the infection tally to 2,66,819. A fatality each was reported from Gurgaon, Faridabad and Kurukshetra district. The number of active cases in the state stands at 1,679 and 2,62,140 people have so far been discharged after recovery. The recovery rate stands at was 98.25 per cent.
Rajasthan reported 265 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths and 406 recoveries in last twenty-four hours. Total cases tally rose to 3,16,081 meanwhile 3,09,391 have recovered so far in the state. Death toll reaches 2756. There are 3934 active cases currently in the state.
Odisha’s Covid-19 caseload climbed to 3,33,866 after 143 people tested positive for the virus, while one more fatality pushed the coastal state’s toll to 1,903. The state now has 1,589 active case, while 3,30,321 patients have recovered from the disease. The positivity rate stands at 4.46 per cent.
Kerala recorded 6,229 new cases of coronavirus and 21 related deaths taking the total number of those affected by the virus in the state to 8.69 lakh, while the toll surged to 3,545. One more person who returned from the UK tested positive for Covid-19, taking the number of those coming from Britain and being infected to 66.
The Covid-19 death count in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 1,924 with one more fatality, while 117 new cases pushed the infection tally to 1,23,764. Of the new cases, 42 were from Jammu division and 75 from Kashmir division of the Union Territory.
