In a letter signed by the AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge announced the appointment of Jitu Patwari, a former minister in the Kamal Nath administration, as the co-chairman of the Campaign Committee for the Madhya Pradesh Congress. Later this year, Madhya Pradesh will hold elections for its legislative body. The state will choose representatives for 230 Assembly constituencies through the voting process.

However, ahead of the elections, several BJP leaders, including a former member of parliament (MP) of BJP from Balaghat Bodh Singh Bhagat have joined the Congress party.
The leaders from the saffron party took the membership of the Congress in the presence of state Congress chief and former chief minister Kamal Nath at the state Congress office in Bhopal on Wednesday.

Bodh Singh Bhagat from Balaghat, Dilip Singh from Rewa, Rajesh Patel and Sumit Choubey from Budni, Prabhat Joshi, Dr. Bhim Singh Patel, and Chandrashekhar Patel from Vidisha, along with their supporters, are among the BJP leaders who have switched over to the congress party. According to Kamal Nath, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now ashamed of the state’s Shivraj Singh Chouhan administration over the corruption scandal.
