In a heart-wrenching incident in Madhya Pradesh’s Betul district, a man allegedly killed his 12-day-old son while under the influence of alcohol. The accused, identified as Anil Uikey, expressed disappointment at not having a daughter, as he already had two sons, according to police reports on Monday.

The distressing incident unfolded in Bajjarwad village under Kotwali police station limits on Sunday evening. Investigations revealed that Anil Uikey, in an inebriated state, assaulted his wife and forcibly took their newborn son from her custody, as confirmed by Kotwali police station in-charge Anil Uikey.

Fearing further harm, the woman fled the scene, only to return later and discover their infant lifeless inside their hut. Tragically, the baby had strangulation marks on his neck.

An FIR was promptly registered against Anil Uikey under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and he was subsequently arrested. During interrogation, the accused admitted that he already had two sons and had hoped for a daughter with the birth of his third child.

The deeply disturbing incident underscores societal expectations surrounding gender preferences and the tragic consequences when such expectations lead to extreme actions. The authorities are investigating the case, and legal proceedings will follow to address the heinous crime committed by the father.
