Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a new chapter in the state school curriculum. This chapter will talk about the Emergency Era from 1975 to 1977. The purpose is to teach the young generation about this important time in India’s history. The Emergency was declared by the Congress government in 1975. It lasted for two years and was a tough time for many people. The new chapter will explain the “excesses and repression” during this period. It will also highlight the courage of those who fought against it, known as “Loktantra Senanis” or democracy fighters.
Chief Minister Yadav shared this news while speaking to a group of democracy fighters. He praised their bravery and announced new benefits for them. These benefits include:
Yadav also promised that the state will cover all costs for the last rites of democracy fighters. The amount given to their families for funerals will increase from ₹8,000 to ₹10,000. Additionally, the government will help family members of democracy fighters find jobs by providing necessary training for setting up businesses.
The Emergency Era started on June 25, 1975, when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared it. Opposition leaders and many others were jailed, and press freedom was restricted. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Emergency. The new chapter aims to ensure that students understand this significant event in India’s history.
