While candles are usually looked down upon for emitting smoke and causing environmental harm – eco-conscious and sustainably made candles have now hijacked the market. Since everything is ‘green’ and ‘clean’ today, the craze for making and buying eco-friendly products has become a top priority for brands and customers alike.
Zeroing down on this upward trend, the aromatherapy space is also bustling with green and vegan candles to ensure people get products that are fragrant yet safe and clean to use. To break down the principles of what it is like to run an eco-conscious, luxury, natural candle brand, The Daily Guardian spoke to Mr. Gautam Sinha of Nappa Dori Living and Candles. He shares, “Personally, I’ve always had a very deep appreciation for nature and premium craftsmanship. We always had the desire to offer a selection of products that epitomize these core value of eco-consciousness and keep the brand alive. Majority of our products are thoughtfully crafted using sustainable materials and serve as our premium, sustainable alternative to traditional home décor”.

Q. How do you ensure that your candles are both luxurious and environmentally friendly?
A. This is a balance we strike by meticulously selecting high-quality natural ingredients and employing artisanal craftsmanship. Hand-poured candles that are a blend of unique natural waxes and essential oils create a premium experience while simultaneously prioritizing sustainability in our production process to minimize our environmental impact.
Q. What materials and ingredients are used in such candles and are they sustainably sourced?
A. The sustainability efforts shine through in our use of all-natural ingredients. We use natural ingredients like sustainable bamboo and soy wax. The usage of soy wax is not only environmentally friendly but also gives you a clean and natural experience. We also use sustainable materials such as bamboo-weave exteriors as candle accessories, adding to both aesthetic and the ethical, sustainable experience!
Q. What steps do you take to minimize the carbon footprint of the candle production process?
A. When it comes to our production process, the concept of small batch production is something we have been practicing since our inception as a brand. So, as we see it, production as per demand, in limited quantities enables us to ensure that each piece gets the attention and detailing it deserves and prevents wastage while at it. When it comes to packaging, we›re big on the use of kraft paper because it›s not just sustainable but biodegradable too. And when it comes to plastic, we keep it to the absolute minimum.
