Amidst the speculations and the possibility of simultaneous conduct of assembly and parliamentary polls, in Haryana political circles are abuzz as all parties in the state are brainstorming and strategizing the forthcoming battle. Besides, with its ally, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP) the ruling Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) and the main opposition party Congress along with Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) continue to mull over the possibilities of forging alliance or vice versa ahead of the polls.

At the national level, 26 Opposition parties have united to form an alliance called “INDIA ‘’ in a bid to unseat the saffron BJP. Under the INDA banner, many parties of opposing alliances have come together showcasing their strength in the name of opposition unity. The AAP which has been at loggerheads with the Congress in several states namely Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi ove the battle of dominance and supremacy, once upon a time, is also a part of the aforementioned alliance. But things are still different in terms of politics in Haryana.

Most of the Congress stalwarts in Haryana are not in support of forging alliances with any party. Former CM and the Congress bigwigs Bhupender SIngh Hooda has out rightly rejected several times to form an alliance with any party ,stating that the party is capable of returning to power alone without the political crutch of any other party.

Claiming continuously that Congress is ready to regain power in Haryana, Hooda said that Congress in Haryana is strong enough to come to power on its own. Similarly, the arch rivals and leaders of the opposite faction namely SRK faction namely Kumari Selja, Randeep Surjewala and Kiran Chaudhary are believed to contest the battle on its own in Haryana. In reaction to a query pertaining to forging an alliance with any party, K opined last year that Kumari Selja said that Congress had an alliance with people and the Congress would form the government on the basis of this alliance and the people are looking forward to the Congress in the upcoming polls.

While Congress leaders in the state have acknowledged the formation of the INDIA alliance, many others, including party stalwart and Haryana Leader of Opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda have proclaimed that the party does not need an alliance to come to power.
Meanwhile, after marking the victory in three states namely Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and the fiasco of its partner JJP in Rajasthan, the ruling BJP has given a clear indication of staying together at least till the Lok Sabha elections contrary to the expectations as the party was believed to bring the alliance to an end in case the JJP failed to pass the test.
