Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Groom Votes In Wedding Attire In Kangan, Srinagar

In the fourth phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a groom in full wedding attire made a symbolic and significant gesture by casting his vote at the Boys Hr Sec School in Kangan, located in the Srinagar parliamentary constituency of India. Expressing his commitment to exercising his fundamental right granted by the Constitution, the groom emphasized the importance of voting in shaping policies and governance.

The groom, speaking to ANI, highlighted the hard work of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Nuzhat Qureshi and the obligation of citizens to participate in the democratic process by voting for candidates who formulate policies and run the country.

The electoral battle in Srinagar features People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Waheed Ur Rehman Para and Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi from the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference. This constituency has a historical significance as it has been represented by multiple generations of the Abdullah family.

With major parties like the BJP and Congress refraining from fielding candidates in Srinagar, the focus is on the contest between PDP’s Waheed Ur Rehman Para and National Conference’s Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi.

The Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir mark a significant event since the abrogation of Article 370, with voting taking place in five phases. The region has been under central rule since 2018, following the dissolution of the PDP-BJP government.

In the larger context of national politics, the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are crucial, spanning seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with results expected on June 4. The decision of key parties like the PDP and National Conference to contest independently reflects the dynamic political landscape in Jammu and Kashmir, adding intrigue to the electoral process and outcomes.
