The much-anticipated 17th edition of the Jaipur Literature Festival, known as ‘Litkumbh,’ is poised to kick off today, February 1, at Hotel Clarks Amer in Jaipur. This literary extravaganza will play host to over 550 authors, speakers, and artists who will contribute to discussions and presentations in 16 Indian and 8 international languages.
The spectrum of Indian languages spans Assamese, Awadhi, Bengali, Hindi, Kannada, Kashmiri, Kurukh, Malayalam, Odia, Punjabi, Rajasthani, Sanskrit, Tamil, Toda, Urdu, and Banjara language – Lambadi. Embracing the cultural diversity of Rajasthan, this year’s festival adopts the theme ‘Utsav,’ reflecting the vibrant colours of the region.
The inaugural ceremony on the first day will be graced by the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Diya Kumari. Gopal Krishna Gandhi, former Governor of West Bengal, will deliver the keynote address.
The morning music session will pay homage to Pandit Kumar Gandharva on his 100th birth anniversary, featuring a presentation by Kalapini Komkali.
Literary discussions on the first day will feature renowned speakers such as Gulzar, Amish, Raghuram Rajan, Ajay Jadeja, Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, and Pavan K. Varma.
The festival’s first day will host a total of 40 sessions across five different locations at Hotel Clarks Amer – Front Lawn, Baithak, Mughal Tent, Charbagh, and Darbar Hall.
Jaipur Music Stage (JMS) promises a diverse musical journey, showcasing artists from the Indian subcontinent.
