The Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday reserved its decision on Delhi’s former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s bail petition in connection with the alleged excise scam being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
On Tuesday, Special Judge MK Nagpal decided to reserve his decision on Manish Sisodia’s bail application and set 26 April as the date for the order to be issued. Senior Advocate Dayan Krishnan, representing Manish Sisodia, argued that it is not the ED’s job to tell what happened in the GoM and the cabinet; rather, the ED’s job should be to tell if a crime was committed and who benefited from it.
The lawyer contended that Sisodia could not be detained solely on the basis of rumors.
Manish Sisodia’s lawyer claimed that no money laundering case had been filed against him.
The Enforcement Directorate has also objected to the bail request, claiming that “an illegal ecosystem was created in order to give illegal benefits to liquor cartels in order to obtain kickbacks.”
