Alia Bhatt Discusses Her ADHD Diagnosis, Shares How Acting and Parenting Bring Her Peace

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt has opened up about her diagnosis of ADHD (attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder), discussing its impact on her life both on-screen and off. In an emotional interview with a newswire, she reflected on her childhood difficulties with zoning out during conversations and in classrooms, challenges she has faced for years. A psychological assessment revealed that she is high on the ADHD spectrum, providing her with essential clarity about her behavior and thought processes.

Sharing her friends’ reactions to her diagnosis, Alia noted that they had long suspected her condition. “When I told them, they were like, ‘We always knew. This is not some sort of revelation,'” she said. Although her friends recognized her symptoms, it was the formal diagnosis that helped her understand why she feels a sense of peace when acting. “I understood why I am at peace in front of the camera,” she explained, emphasizing that performing allows her to be fully present.

Alia also touched on how motherhood has enhanced her sense of presence. “Now after Raha, when I am with her, I am most present,” she stated, highlighting the tranquility she experiences while spending time with her daughter. Reflecting on her wedding day, she humorously recalled declining her makeup artist’s request for two hours of makeup time. Instead, Bhatt preferred a more relaxed approach, often limiting her makeup sessions to just 45 minutes due to her ADHD.

On the professional front, Alia Bhatt’s film *Jigra* premiered in theaters on October 11 to mixed reviews. She is also set to appear in the eagerly awaited YRF Spy Universe film *Alpha*, directed by Shiv Rawail, as well as the much-anticipated film *Jee Le Zaraa*, alongside Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif.
