Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the Baramulla Stadium, now renamed after General Bipin Rawat, in a ceremony that paid homage to the late soldier and military strategist. The Lt Governor recalled General Bipin Rawat’s impactful service in various capacities in North Kashmir, acknowledging his significant contributions to peace, progress, and prosperity in the region.
Participating in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra at Baramulla, the Lt Governor called for collective efforts from all sections of society to ensure inclusivity and shared growth. He inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for development projects totaling Rs 38 crore.
Expressing satisfaction with the citizens’ enthusiastic participation in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra across the Union Territory, the Lt Governor attributed the transformation in Jammu and Kashmir to the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He noted the accelerated growth witnessed in all districts, highlighting the remarkable transformation of rural Jammu Kashmir.
“We have been able to fulfill hopes and aspirations of the people to a large extent. Today, the people of Jammu Kashmir have a better quality of life and equal economic opportunities to grow,” remarked the Lt Governor. He emphasized ongoing efforts in creating new infrastructure, fostering a knowledge economy, and achieving 100% saturation of schemes to ensure the realization of J&K’s destiny.
Highlighting key initiatives for the development of Baramulla district, the Lt Governor noted ongoing work on a new tourism circuit that will benefit areas like Mundaji, Ladoo, Kazinag, Rajpora, Rampora, and Uri, providing a significant boost to the local economy.
Expressing hope for snowfall in the valley for tourism and power projects, the Lt Governor inspected stalls set up by various departments, distributing sanction letters to beneficiaries under different government schemes. He administered the ‘Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat’ pledge to officials and citizens, symbolizing their commitment to the nation’s development.
The Lt Governor also flagged off a fleet of Garbage Collection Vehicles for rural areas in the district, while sports activities and cultural performances at the event received special appreciation.
Inaugurated projects included office accommodation for Block Development Council Tangmarg, water supply schemes, retrofitting works of water supply schemes, sub-stations, improvement of LT/HT network, and a Model School at Government Higher Secondary School Pattan. Foundation stones were laid for projects such as an Astro Turf for Football at Sheikh-ul-Alam Stadium, a Synthetic Athletic track at Tulibal Sopore, installation of Blow Moulded Chairs for General Bipin Rawat Stadium, a Spawn Production Laboratory for Mushroom Promotion, and a Laboratory Block at Government Higher Secondary School Authoora.
