Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha dedicated the 34th edition of the ‘Awaam Ki Awaaz’ program to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir, lauding their historic participation in the transformative ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra.’
Highlighting the significance of the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra,’ a potent Jan-Abhiyan initiative aimed at uplifting the vulnerable sections of society, Lt Governor Sinha expressed optimism about charting a new future for a developed India through this collective endeavor.
LG emphasized that the active involvement of 40 lakh citizens from Jammu and Kashmir in this journey has laid a robust foundation for progress in both rural and urban areas of the Union Territory. He expressed confidence that the collaborative spirit and healthy competition among districts would propel J&K UT towards prosperity and inclusive development.
During the program, Sinha shared inspiring success stories from various fields, commending individuals for their contributions. Bikram Singh of village Jhankar, Kathua, was recognized for teaching innovative farming methods and being a living encyclopedia on integrated farming.
Ghulam Hassan Sheikh of Village Chamboora, Budgam, earned praise for his unwavering determination, especially in business diversification from ‘Carpets to Kashmiri Lal Mirch,’ inspiring fellow entrepreneurs in the region.
Special mention was made of Ghulam Hussain Wani, a skilled carpet artisan from Srinagar, acknowledged for his expertise in carpet repairs and preserving the finesse of this rare art form. The Lt Governor highlighted the transformative power of Nari Shakti, citing the story of Kaushalya Devi of Chenani, Udhampur, showcasing the economic empowerment of women through Self-Help Groups.
Lt Governor Sinha also commended the ‘No Helmet No Petrol’ road safety campaign by District Administration Anantnag and the Petroleum Dealer Association, underscoring the importance of such initiatives.
Unique contributions from individuals like Nisar Ahmed from Mattan, Vishal Roudhan from Udhampur, and Mahmooda Akhtar from Kulgam in connecting citizens with social campaigns and promoting traditional hand embroidery were acknowledged and appreciated. Highlighting the UT Administration’s efforts to create amenities for tourists in rural and far-off areas, the Lt Governor noted the surge in homestay registrations, indicating immense potential for offbeat tourist destinations. He urged people in rural and border areas to take advantage of this opportunity, assuring full support from the administration.
Responding to suggestions from citizens regarding waste management, clean cooking fuel, renewable energy, and telemedicine services in villages, Lt Governor Sinha directed concerned departments to take immediate and appropriate action on the valuable inputs received.
