The Gujarat High Cour tin the case Bharti Gouda Versus National Institute Of Design observed and has issued the notice to the National Institute of Design, NID Ahmedabad, on the plea challenging the institution’s decision to cancel the provisional admission of a candidate.
The court in the case observed and has directed the NID to not fill up the seat in which the petitioner had provisionally secured admission till the returnable date.
In the present case, the applicant named Bharti Gouda, had applied for the Master programme in Design for Retail Experience course at NID and had been declared successful after completing the examination procedure. Therefore, the Gouda had not only secured Rank 7 in the All India open category but also attained Rank 1 in the All India OBC-NCL category for the course.
The bench headed by Justice Nikhil S Kariel in the case observed while considering the above interference is required more particularly considering the merit rank secured by the present petitioner interim relief is also required to be granted.
Further, the notice issued to the respondent is returnable June, 23, 2023.
Therefore, the said notice come on the heels of a previous order by the same bench wherein the court had strongly criticized the NID for cancelling the admission of a meritorious candidate solely on the non-issuance of a certificate in a specific format by her previous institution.
The NID revoked the Bharti Gouda’s admission and the same was due to her failure to submit a document in the prescribed format.
