With the 2024 Haryana Assembly polls fast approaching, political parties are putting their best foot forward in a bid to strengthen their position to ensure victory in the polls. With such a political atmosphere in the state, no political party can claim it to be a cakewalk for them. The BJP, led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, has become particularly active, anticipating a win in the state for the third time. To mark nine years of the BJP-led Central government, the state government held a programme in Chandigarh on Monday, with Chief Minister Khattar, along with other party stalwarts in attendance. In an exclusive interview with The Daily Guardian, the Chief Minister shared his views on a string of issues.
When asked about the disruption during his Jan Samvad Program, which is being held across the state, Chief Minister Khattar blamed opposition parties for creating a ruckus. He also said that future programs will be continued uninterrupted, as the Opposition would continue to create controversy during such gatherings.
In response to a question about his tenure as Chief Minister, Khattar said that the state government has worked on almost every aspect associated with the welfare of all sections of society. In addition to this, and with the help of digital platforms, he left no stone unturned to make life easier for people through the same. Further, he added that the previous Congress-led government had failed on all fronts, which added to the woes of the people. Besides, he added that the BJP-led state government has come up with new initiatives.
As for certain development announcements that he had made as CM, he said the government is continuously working towards the completion of the same. Chief Minister Khattar further stated that 90 per cent of the announcements that he had made have either been completed or will be ready to be unveiled soon.
Pertaining to the problems being faced by the people on a large scale across the state, he said that he observed certain issues, such as the lack of drinking water, and an acute shortage of water for irrigation continue to surface, as well as issues of transport and connectivity. Khattar said that he is aware that the state government is required to come up with a comprehensive plan. In a bid to sort out these issues, he has issued directions with the necessary steps.
The CM also told this reporter that all cabinet ministers in his government would be visiting their assembly constituencies and the adjoining areas in a bid to conduct a program similar to the Jan Samvad and establish a dialogue with residents during their night halt.
