Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has endorsed Democrat Kamala Harris over Republican Donald Trump for the presidency ahead of Election Day scheduled for Tuesday, November 5.

“What are we even talking about here?? When I think about my kids and my family and how they will grow up, the choice is clear to me. VOTE KAMALA HARRIS,” James wrote on his X account.

LeBron had a feud with Donald Trump during the latter’s previous tenure as US President, who criticized National Football League (NFL) players for taking a knee while the US national anthem was being played. Taking a knee was a practice by players to protest against racism. “Great solidarity for our National Anthem and for our Country. Standing with locked arms is good, kneeling is not acceptable. Bad ratings!” Trump had said on social media back in 2017.

In the same year, James criticized Trump for not inviting fellow basketball player Steph Curry to the White House along with the Golden State Warriors team, who had won their fifth NBA championship title that year.

Kamala Harris is not the only Democratic candidate that James has endorsed. The 39-year-old had endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020, on both occasions against Trump.

James has collected 22.2 points so far in the 2024-25 NBA regular season. The LA Lakers are in fifth place in the Western Conference standings with four wins and two losses. The Lakers next take on the Detroit Pistons on Monday.
