The Kuwait fire is believed to have originated in a kitchen on one of the lower floors before rapidly spreading throughout the structure, leaving many occupants trapped inside.
Reports indicate that the building, which housed approximately 195 laborers, including workers from Kerala and Tamil Nadu, belongs to the NBTC group, owned by Malayali businessman KG Abraham. The Indian Embassy in Kuwait swiftly responded to the crisis by establishing an emergency helpline number (965-65505246) for updates and assistance. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed shock over the incident, confirming that the Indian ambassador has been dispatched to the camp to assess the situation.
