Parts of Kota, Rajasthan, and the surrounding areas are experiencing flooding as a result of the nonstop rain that has fallen over the past 24 hours.

Low-lying areas have reportedly been inundated as a result of rainfall and water released from the Kota barrage, according to a report. The barrage has released about 2.76 lakh cubic metres of water thus far.

“(About) 2.76 lakh cusec of water has already been released through 14 gates on Monday. Thirteen gates were opened last night, and one more gate was opened today. A total of 4 lakh cusec of water is scheduled to be released and, if required, all 19 gates will be opened today,” an official said.

He added that plans are being made, given the circumstances, to move people from low-lying areas to safer locations if necessary.

Videos revealed numerous regions of the northern state under water, and in the Talwandi, Purana Kota complexes, Bajrang Nagar, Jawahar Nagar, station road, Balaji Nagar, and Tonk area, residents had problems getting to work and water invaded their homes.

The administration proclaimed a holiday for both public and private schools on Monday, and coaching facilities are also closed because of the weather.

The Meteorological Department reports that during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30am on Monday, unusually heavy rainfall was recorded in remote regions of Kota and Jhalawar district.
