The operating mechanism of Zigana pistols is a locked-slide short recoil mechanism with a modified Browning-type locking system. Furthermore, these pistols have an automatic firing pin block. The Zigana PX-9 model is manufactured in Malaysia in collaboration with Turkey. Local workshops in Pakistan produce and sell Zigana models illegally.
In the United States, Zigana is imported by American Tactical Imports and marketed under the FS9 and FS40 brand names. Furthermore, the Zigana K and Zigana F models are licenced by the Ministry of Defense Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan under the names Zfr, Zfr-K, and Inam.
