As young players are playing good cricketing and trying to get a green signal from Indian cricket team. KL Rahul is moving his cycle in the backward direction, as he has continued his poor form in the ongoing
Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
KL Rahul has been stripped of the vice-captaincy and his team for the remaining two Test matches in the four-match series against Australia due to a lack of runs in previous matches. It’s been a couple of months since KL Rahul was captaining the team during India’s tour of Bangladesh, now he has lost both his vice-captaincy and his position.
After the replacement of Rahul, India lacks a vice-captain, and Rohit Sharma will decide who will be his deputy in the Indore Test.
Let’s take a look at KL Rahul’s previous performances. In 47 Test matches, Rahul has an average of just 33.44. And after seven tonnes against South Africa, he has scores of 23, 50, 8, 12, 10, 22, 23, 10, 2, 20, 17, and 1. Here we can see that, with each passed inning, the run flow is getting worse.
Indian cricket is blessed with a number of talents, and this would become very unfair for other batters who are enlightened with talent but still don’t get any chance to play for their nation. Players including Mayank Agarwal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ritu Raj Gaikwad, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prithvi Shaw, and many more are still on the waiting list. For the time being, Shubman Gill, the highest run-scorer in 2023, will take KL Rahul’s place in the playing XI for the upcoming matches. However, it appears that Rahul’s poor form is still being covered up by Indian cricket management. Defending Vice-captain KL Rahul, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid said, “Of late, there has been a lot of talk about his batting, but for us as team management, we always look at the potential of any individual, not just KL.”
In order to justify Rahul’s bad form, Dravid added, “I was asked in the past about a lot of players, and if the guy has potential, guys will get that extended run. It’s not about KL, but anyone. If you look at the couple of hundreds he got outside India, two of the best I’ve seen from KLK, especially at Lord’s- batting on a damp pitch, losing the toss, put in, and playing in England is never easy, and he put in a great performance there, and Centurion was another one. Both came in India wins, so again, that’s the potential he has.”
