In a significant step towards hosting the 4th Khelo India Winter Games, Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting today to meticulously review the preparations for the prestigious sporting event. The Games are scheduled to commence on 2nd February at the picturesque venue of Gulmarg.
During the meeting, Sh Sarmad Hafeez, Secretary Youth Services and Sports, presented a detailed overview of the progress in the preparatory works assigned to various departments. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, emphasizing the importance of timely execution, directed the concerned departments to ensure that all facilities meet international standards.
The success of the previous editions of Khelo India Winter Games has significantly elevated Jammu and Kashmir into a prominent winter sports hub. Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the opportunity this year presents to showcase the rich culture and warm hospitality of the region. He urged all stakeholders to collaborate and make the event a memorable experience for athletes and winter sports enthusiasts arriving from across the country.
The meeting delved into a comprehensive strategy for promotional campaigns, the establishment of joint control rooms, deputation of Nodal officers, and ensuring seamless logistics such as traffic flow, parking spaces, lodging, transportation, uninterrupted power, water supply, medical facilities, public utilities, and other amenities. Lt Governor Manoj Sinha stressed the importance of effective coordination among concerned departments to ensure the smooth conduct of the games.
In attendance at the meeting were Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Atal Dullo Chief Secretary; Dr Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lt Governor; along with senior officers from the Police and Civil administration, both in person and through virtual mode. The collective effort and meticulous planning showcased in the meeting reflect the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir UT to hosting a world-class sporting event that not only promotes winter sports but also highlights the region’s cultural richness and hospitality.
