The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for the districts of Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Wayanad for June 27. Tomorrow has been designated as an orange alert in the Idukki district.

Earlier on June 25, IMD stated that the southwest monsoon is currently active and has covered the whole state of Maharashtra, and that it will proceed forward in the following two days to reach other areas.

“The southwest monsoon is active now. It has covered the whole of Maharashtra including Mumbai. Monsoon has also arrived in Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi and parts of Haryana, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab and Jammu. It will move forward in the next two days and will cover other parts also,” Dr Mrityunjay Mohapatra said.

Heavy rains earlier today caused landslides and flash floods in Himachal Pradesh, as well as a landslide on the Chandigarh-Manali highway that stopped the stretch between Mandi and Kullu, with overhead footage showing hundreds of passengers trapped on the highways.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange signal for Himachal Pradesh for today and tomorrow.
