The Kerala government has announced plans to establish a rubber park in the Kollam district, in collaboration with the Rubber Board and the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA).

According to Rubber Park M.D. George V. James, the second phase of the park will be established at Priavanthur, with a focus on developing infrastructure facilities such as power, water, and transportation to promote rubber and rubber wood-based product manufacturing industrial units.

The park will only permit rubber-based and rubber wood industries, which are classified by the Pollution Control Board (PCB) as environmentally safe.

George also mentioned that the park is located in an environmentally sensitive area, and thus no common effluent treatment plant has been constructed.

Approximately 10 acres of land will be available for lease for thirty years for industrial use, with the hope of attracting new industries to promote the growth of the rubber industry in the state.
