Ahead of the Punjab Assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) made promises of never compromising with the security of the Prime Minister.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said that if his party is voted to power, it would significantly cooperate with the Centre to strengthen national security.
He also promised to work on the development of schools, universities and tackling drug and alcohol issues in the state.
He alleged that both BJP and Congress politicised the issue of breach of PM’s security cover. “Aam Aadmi Party never comprises with national security. If voted to power in Punjab, we’ll work together with the Centre on the issue of security in Punjab and the country. Both BJP and Congress did politics on the issue.” While appealing for votes, he urged the people of Punjab to consider the future of their children before voting for any party.
He further claimed that all opposition parties have come together to target AAP.
Taking a dig at opposition parties, Kejriwal said: “From morning to evening, Channi abuses me and Bhagwant Mann but doesn’t take the name of Sukhbir Singh Badal (SAD chief). Also, Sukhbir Badal only abuses me and Mann but doesn’t take the name of Channi. Priyanka Gandhi also abused me, it seems that all the parties have come together and speak the same language.”
He also discussed the corruption in the state, which includes drugs, drones, and tiffin bombs that are brought in from the border.
Fielding Mann as the CM candidate of AAP in Punjab, the party is expected to do well in the Malwa region.
In the 2017 Punjab Assembly elections, the Congress had won a significant number of seats, while SAD-BJP alliance had won only 18 seats and, AAP emerged as the second-largest party.
