Four people have been detained by police in Bidar after a mob taking part in a Dussehra parade is accused of breaking into a historic madrasa on Thursday, escalating racial tensions in the Karnataka district of Bidar.

Additionally, the mob yelled protests and apparently conducted puja in a corner of the madrasa grounds. The mob invaded the madrasa grounds by breaking the gate’s lock and dousing the area in vermillion.

The Madarsa is a landmark of the Archeological Survey of India (ASI). Following the event, members of the minority community gathered around the monument and demanded that the “miscreants” be brought to justice.

Later, police took action and filed a complaint under various IPC sections against nine people, of whom four have already been arrested.

In the meantime, the Congress party has also responded to the situation and accused the Karnataka government of permitting such things.

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, has criticised the state government and said that the BJP-led administration is degrading Muslims.

According to police department sources, there had never been trouble with the small rituals because they were performed by a small group of people each year. However, this time, a large group of people gathered around the madrasa to perform the rituals, which is precisely why the whole situation generated controversy.
