On Sunday, Siddaramaiah, the chief minister of Karnataka, and DK Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister, introduced the “Shakti Yojana,” a free travel programme for women in the KSRTC and the BMTC.

The Congress manifesto for the Karnataka Assembly elections included free travel for women on KSRTC and BMTC buses. Ramalinga Reddy, Karnataka Transport Minister, educated the public on the Shakti Yojana Scheme.The Minister stated that the smart cards for free bus transportation would be distributed in three months.Reddy further stated that the Shakthi scheme prioritised the convenient and secure transit of female commuters.Karnataka Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa expressed his happiness on the launch of the Shakti Scheme and said that all the schemes promised by Congress in the state would have been implemented by 15 August.
