Karnataka police on Thursday lodged an FIR against Congress MLA Shamanur Shivshankarappa and his son Shamanur Mallikarjun after people in that area complained that they were influencing voters by distributing gifts for the upcoming state assembly polls to be held on 10 May.
Women of the Davangere Dakshina Assembly Constituency expressed their anger against Shivshankarappa for giving gifts.
The women of the area have plenty of complaints, like the lack of proper roads and drainage arrangements. People are spending their lives like animals. They are not paying attention to such issues. “Election is nearing, so they are distributing sarees and other gifts,” a woman told a leading news agency.
Villagers in Davangere gathered and set all gifted items on fire, which were given by the father-son duo.
