The Karnataka court granted bail to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar concerning a defamation case lodged by BJP leader Keshava Prasad on Saturday.
Earlier BJP had accused congress leaders of dissemination of false advertisements against party leaders including former CM Basavaraj Bommai.
Later on Saturday, both Karnataka CM and deputy cm arrived before 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate. After admitting their plea, the court gave them bail.

The BJP MLC lodged a defamation complaint alleging that a 40 percent commission was charged for the execution of public works.
The case was filed against Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Additionally, the complaint claimed that the advertisement released by the Congress against the BJP on May 5 was ‘fanciful, baseless, foundation-less and irrational’.
“The advertisement showed the images of accused D K Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah seeking votes for the Congress. The complainant said that this shows that both the accused were directly responsible for all the false statements in the advertisement.” read the complaint.
Further, the complainant also alleged, that reckless allegations were made under the caption Corruption Rate card, and also claimed, that false allegations were issued by KPCC and other three accused against the party.
Meanwhile, congress MP Rahul Gandhi was also summoned by the court, for defamation case. But Gandhi had asked for exemption on the grounds of election commitments.
Nonetheless, the court asked for his presence, as a result, the matter was adjourned till 3 pm.
Meanwhile, talking to reporters, DK Shivakumar appearing before the court alleged, that it was BJP MLA Basangouda Patil Yatnal, who alleged that BJP was corrupt.
