Kareena, Diljit Steal the Show at 5th Filmfare OTT Awards

The 5th edition of the Filmfare OTT Awards lit up Mumbai last night with a star-studded celebration. Bollywood’s biggest names graced the event, dazzling in glamorous attire and adding to the festive vibe. The awards recognized the best in web series and films, unveiling nominations across 39 categories prior to the event.

Leading the Pack

Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar topped the nomination charts with nods in 16 categories. Guns & Gulaabs followed with 12 nominations, while Kaala Paani earned eight. Other notable entries included Kota Factory Season 3, Made in Heaven Season 2, and Mumbai Diaries Season 2, each securing seven nominations.

Big Winners of the Night

In the film category, Imtiaz Ali’s Amar Singh Chamkila won Best Film (Web Original). Its lead actor, Diljit Dosanjh, clinched the Best Actor (Male) award for his role. Kareena Kapoor, who shimmered in a stunning saree, won Best Actor (Female) for Sujoy Ghosh’s Jaane Jaan. Expressing her joy, Kareena shared a photo with the iconic black lady trophy, saying, “The black lady always gives you that dizzy feeling… till today.”

Series Winners

The series The Railway Men bagged the award for Best Series. Sameer Saxena and Amit Golani won Best Director (Series) for their work on Kaala Paani. Rajkummar Rao received Best Actor (Male) for Comedy in Guns & Gulaabs, while Gagan Dev Riar earned Best Actor (Male) for Drama in Scam 2003 – The Telgi Story.

For female performances, Geetanjali Kulkarni won Best Actor (Female) for Comedy in Gullak Season 4. Manisha Koirala was awarded Best Actor (Female) for Drama in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar.

Special Recognition for Storytelling and Creativity

Best Original Story (Series) went to Biswapati Sarkar for Kaala Paani. Maamla Legal Hai claimed Best Comedy (Series/Special), while The Hunt for Veerappan won Best Non-Fiction Original (Series/Special).

Film Awards

In addition to Amar Singh Chamkila’s accolades, Jaideep Ahlawat won Best Supporting Actor (Male) for Maharaj. Wamiqa Gabbi took home Best Supporting Actor (Female) for Khufiya. The film also excelled in technical categories, with awards for Best Background Music by A.R. Rahman, Best Cinematography, and Best Editing.

Critics’ Choice

Critics recognized Guns & Gulaabs as Best Series and Jaane Jaan as Best Film. Kay Kay Menon and Huma Qureshi earned Critics’ Best Actor (Male) and (Female) for Bambai Meri Jaan and Maharani Season 3, respectively. Ananya Panday received Critics’ Best Actor (Female) for her role in Kho Gaye Hum Kahan.
