In a government school in a village in Kaithal, the principal, Ravi, has been arrested by the Sevan police amidst allegations of harassment against female students. This action came after a 17-year-old student lodged a complaint late Wednesday under the POCSO Act. A dedicated team, led by DSP Kuldeep from Guhla, has been formed to investigate the matter.
Previously, students from a government school in the Sevan police jurisdiction had protested, alleging persistent harassment by the principal for quite some time. A distress call to Dial 112 had been made regarding this issue a few days earlier as well. The students accused the police of neglecting their grievances during this incident.
Renu Bhatia, the Chairperson of the State Women’s Commission, intervened in this case, urging the Police Chief to promptly arrest the accused. Consequently, the police acted swiftly, apprehending the accused principal within a mere 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the Education Department had formed a four-member team, providing their investigation report to the police for further action. District Education Officer Ravindra Chaudhary confirmed that the team completed its inquiry and submitted the report to the police.
According to DSP Kuldeep from Guhla, the arrested principal’s case, along with the Education Department’s team investigation report, has been obtained. The case is now slated for swift judicial proceedings.
