Justice Ujjal Bhuyan and Justice S Venkatanarayana Bhatti took oath as judges of the Supreme Court. The Supreme court’s strength rises to 32 with two more vacancies remaining with the appointment of two judges of Supreme Court.
The Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud administered the oath to the new judges whose appointment has been cleared by the Central Government on July 12, 2023 wherein the recommendations were made by the Supreme Court Collegium on July 05, 2023.
The Justice Bhuyan, the judge of Supreme Court, who previously being the Chief Justice of Telangana High Court will have the term till August 02, 2029.
The Justice Bhatti, the Judge of Supreme Court, who previously being the Chief Justice of Kerala High Court till May 06, 2027.
