A junior doctor died on Monday after allegedly falling from the third floor of a hostel with his female friend at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) campus in Jharkhand, according to police.
The incident occurred late on October 20 at hostel block number 4. The deceased, identified as Akash, was a second-year postgraduate student, while the woman accompanying him was hospitalized with injuries.
Police suggest that it appears to be a suicide case, with further details pending investigation.
Rajeev Ranjan, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of RIMS, stated that security personnel heard a loud noise after the pair allegedly jumped. Ranjan added, “Around 10:30 p.m. last night, an orthopaedic student in his second year jumped from the third floor of the hostel. The boy jumped with a girl, who is not from RIMS. Guards responded immediately after receiving the information.”

The woman is out of danger,” Ranjan confirmed. “We are not sure if it was a suicide or not. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and further investigation is ongoing.”
The police continue their investigation into the matter.
