Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha received the Amrit Kalash from all Blocks and Municipal bodies of Kashmir Division under the Meri Maati Mera Desh Campaign today. He flagged off the Amrit Kalash Yatra for its onward journey to New Delhi via Jammu.
Between September 11th and 30th, 2023, earth and rice were collected from households across all villages and urban wards, marked with over 1.5 Lakh special celebrative events organized across Jammu and Kashmir.
On this occasion, the Lt Governor inaugurated 3952 Amrit Vatikas and 4605 Shilaphalakams across the Union Territory in memory of great personalities who made invaluable contributions and sacrificed their lives for the progress and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Meri Maati Mera Desh is an occasion to remember the sacrificial struggle of freedom fighters and Bravehearts. The sacred flame of their selfless sacrifice and the contribution of our charismatic forefathers in development will illuminate our journey of Amrit Kaal,” stated the Lt Governor during his address.
He emphasized that this initiative represents not just an event but the hopes and aspirations of the common people of the Union Territory. It symbolizes the emergence of a new Jammu and Kashmir that is moving forward with renewed vigor and strength.
The Lt Governor administered the ‘Panch Pran’ pledge to the people and called for united efforts to realize the vision of a developed India.
“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji has shown us a new path through Panch Pran. The goal of a developed India, the elimination of any trace of a colonial mindset, taking pride in our roots, unity, and a sense of duty among citizens—these five Pran will guide us in Amrit Kaal,” he said.
Meri Maati Mera Desh is also a symbol of new resolve, an opportunity for collective reflection, and a new resolution for the team of Jammu and Kashmir, added the Lt Governor.
He concluded by saying, “We will have to dedicate every moment of our lives to nation-building, and I am confident that the campaign will create new strength and new confidence in the development journey of Jammu and Kashmir.”
As part of the occasion, the Lt Governor planted a sapling of Picea smithiana (Himalayan Spruce).
Also present at the event were Sh. Junaid Azim Mattu, Mayor, SMC; Sh. Aftab Malik, Chairman, DDC Srinagar; Sh. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar, Advisor to Lt Governor; Dr. Syed Abid Rasheed Shah, Secretary Tourism Department; DDC Chairpersons, members of PRIs, ULBs, senior Officers from Civil Administration, Police, and Security Forces.
