In response to directives received from the Joint Chief Electoral Officer of Jammu and Kashmir (Jammu), the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has announced the rescheduling of annual regular exams for class 11th in soft zone areas and examinations for classes 10th, 11th, and 12th in hard zone areas.

The decision comes in light of the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2024, with authorities keen to ensure that examination schedules do not clash with polling dates in the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a notification issued by the Director of Academics at JKBOSE, the board received explicit instructions to adjust examination dates to avoid any conflict with the electoral process. Additionally, the National Testing Agency’s conduct of the Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2024, session-2 from April 4th to 15th, further necessitated the need for rescheduling.

Acknowledging the concerns raised by students regarding potential clashes between board exams and other competitive tests, JKBOSE emphasized the importance of addressing these issues promptly and effectively.

“In view of the issue, all concerned parties are hereby informed that the upcoming examination of class 11th annual regular 2024 in Soft Zone and Annual Regular 2024 examinations of classes 10th, 11th, and 12th in Hard Zone Areas have been rescheduled. The said examinations shall now be held on rescheduled dates in two sessions, namely morning and evening shift,” the notification states.

This move aims to alleviate any undue stress or inconvenience faced by students due to overlapping examination schedules and underscores JKBOSE’s commitment to ensuring a fair and conducive environment for academic assessments across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir.
