The Jammu and Kashmir Police have bestowed a cash reward of three lakh rupees upon an individual who provided crucial information regarding a Pakistani drone and facilitated its subsequent recovery by security forces in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district.

In a felicitation ceremony jointly organized by Samba Police and BSF, Senior Superintendent of Police Samba, Vinay Kumar, JKPS, presented a cheque of three lakh rupees to the informant on behalf of ADGP Jammu Zone. The event witnessed the presence of dignitaries including IG BSF D.K Boora, DIG BSF Jammu Sector Chitter Pal, and CO BSF 148 Bn. Kamal Rawat, among others, along with local residents from village Dug and adjoining areas. This reward, in line with the recent policy announced by DGP J&K, symbolizes the valor and commitment of individuals in aiding security forces in combating threats to national security.

The informant, a resident of village Nandpur, displayed remarkable alertness on January 18th, 2024, when he discovered a suspicious object—a drone—lying in his field near Border Out Post (BoP) Chamliyal. Without hesitation, he promptly informed the nearest BSF unit manned by BSF 148 Bn, leading to the swift recovery of the drone equipped with surveillance capabilities.

Commending the public’s cooperation in bolstering security efforts, SSP Samba reiterated the importance of citizens’ vigilance in thwarting cross-border threats, particularly in curbing narco-terrorism sponsored by Pakistan. He also highlighted the various types of rewards recently announced by DGP J&K for individuals providing intelligence on trans-border tunnels, drones, narcotics, terror activities, and terrorists.

Interacting with the local populace, IG BSF emphasized the need for heightened vigilance along the International Border and assured full support from BSF to residents, especially those engaged in land cultivation near the border.

Expressing gratitude towards the J&K Police for the substantial cash reward, Ex-BDC Chairman Ramgarh,  Darshan Singh, lauded the initiative as a motivating factor for border residents to assist security forces in thwarting nefarious activities.

The recipient of the reward expressed heartfelt appreciation for the recognition and pledged continued dedication to serving the nation’s interests in the future.

In its commitment to strengthening security measures, J&K Police has recently announced various cash rewards for individuals providing vital information on a range of security-related matters, underscoring the importance of public cooperation in maintaining peace and security in the region.
