Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Gandbal area of Srinagar on Monday to offer condolences to the families affected by the recent boat capsize tragedy.
Six lives were lost, and three individuals, including a father-son duo, remain missing following the capsizing of a boat carrying nearly two dozen passengers, including school children, from Gandbal to Batwara on the Jhelum river on April 16. Among the deceased were a 35-year-old woman and her two school-going twins. The search operation to locate the missing trio is ongoing.

Expressing his sympathy, the Lieutenant Governor met with the families of the victims and conveyed his heartfelt condolences. He also pledged full assistance and support to the bereaved families during this difficult time.

“The administration stands shoulder to shoulder with the families,” assured the Lieutenant Governor, underscoring the commitment of the Union Territory (UT) Administration to provide all necessary aid and support to those affected by the tragic incident.

The visit and reassurances from Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha come amid ongoing efforts to recover the missing individuals and provide solace to the grieving families affected by the devastating boat accident on the Jhelum river.
