A significant fire erupted at a scrapyard in Qazigund, located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district, as reported by the local police. Prompt responses from firefighters, supported by the Jammu and Kashmir Police and local civilians, were instrumental in containing and extinguishing the flames. The fire resulted in substantial damage to properties estimated to be worth lakhs of rupees.
Local residents, fire personnel, and law enforcement all worked together to put out the fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident, demonstrating the effectiveness of the emergency response coordination. The authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
This incident follows a tragic incident earlier this week in which a fire broke out on a houseboat in Dal Lake, Srinagar, killing three Bangladeshi tourists. The houseboat, Safeena, was destroyed by fire, resulting in the deaths of the tourists. In addition, the fire destroyed seven residential huts and adjacent houses in the area.
As investigations continue into the Kulgam scrapyard fire, authorities are emphasizing the importance of fire safety measures to prevent such incidents and minimize potential losses.
