Jess Jonassen showed why she might soon become unstoppable on Thursday when she shone for Meg Lanning’s team in a 25-run victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore with an  all-round show.

First, the Capitals made a threatening total of 5-194 thanks in large part to Jonassen’s scorching unbeaten 36 off only 16 balls (a strike rate of 225), which included a pair of huge sixes towards the conclusion of Delhi’s innings.

Then, with skipper Smriti Mandhana leading the way with an incredible 43-ball 74, the Challengers attempted to mount a historic WPL chase in front of their home crowd in Bengaluru. Jonassen was safe as houses beneath two crucial deep catches to remove Sophie Devine and Richa Ghosh.

She took three wickets in the first four balls of the last over, including the wicket of her Australian teammate Sophie Molineux, to finish with impressive figures of 3-21 off her four overs. She was asked to bowl the crucial death overs, and she did a great job for Lanning.

Bangalore, who were without Ellyse Perry due to illness, ended their chase at 9-169 thanks to her pivotal contribution. Annabel Sutherland, who was dropped, did her bit as a stand-in fielder by grabbing two catches in deep during Jonassen’s three-wicket over.
