In a determined effort to combat the scourge of drugs in society, the police in Anantnag have successfully apprehended two drug peddlers, leading to the recovery of significant contraband substances from their possession.
Acting on intelligence received by Police Station Mattan, it was uncovered that Sadeeq Khan, son of Mohd Hussain Khan and resident of Satri Maidan Gopalpora Mattan, was allegedly engaged in drug peddling. It was reported that he had accumulated a substantial quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house. Consequently, a case under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Mattan, and a thorough investigation was initiated.
In response to this information, a search team, comprising the SHO PS Mattan and Executive Magistrate Mattan, conducted a raid at Sadeeq Khan’s residence. The search yielded the recovery of approximately 11.5 kgs of Charas Powder, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused. The investigation into this case is ongoing.
Furthermore, another police party from Police Station Bijbehara, conducting naka checking at Hassanpora Bijbehara, apprehended Javid Ahmed Dar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara. Dar was found in possession of 10 bottles of Codeine Phosphate. A case under the relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara, and a comprehensive investigation is underway. The police authorities urge the public to report instances of drug peddling or any criminal activities by contacting the nearest police establishment or dialling 112. Cooperation from the community is essential to curb the menace of drugs, and the police ensure strict action against criminals in accordance with the law, reinforcing their commitment to public safety.
