Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Vice President of National Conference Omar Abdullah has expressed doubt over the future of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, following the Congress party’s crushing defeat in the recent assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh.
Speaking to media persons in Jammu, Abdullah expressed disappointment with the Congress party’s performance, stating that the results were unexpected and highlighted the need for introspection within the opposition alliance.
Abdullah questioned the Congress party’s decision to withhold tickets from Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav in Madhya Pradesh, suggesting that this strategic move could have contributed to the party’s downfall.
“I believe the Congress has failed to grasp the ground realities in Madhya Pradesh,” Abdullah stated. “What harm could have been done by granting Akhilesh Yadav 5-7 seats? What storm could have erupted? What have they gained from their decision now?”
Abdullah’s remarks underscore the growing tensions within the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, casting a shadow of uncertainty over its future prospects. The alliance’s ability to unite and present a cohesive challenge to the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) remains in question.
