The relentless pursuit against drug-related crimes in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir saw another significant development as the Samba administration executed a targeted operation within a week’s time, aimed at curbing the activities of notorious drug smugglers in the area.

Under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Samba Abhishek Sharma IAS and SSP Samba Vinay Sharma JKPS, the administration orchestrated a meticulously planned operation resulting in the confiscation of a single-storey residential property valued at approximately Rs. 15 lakhs in the Rakh Barotian area of Vijaypur.

This decisive action comes as part of the government’s overarching strategy to combat the rampant drug menace plaguing communities across the region. With drug abuse posing a serious threat to public health and safety, authorities have escalated efforts to dismantle the networks of drug peddlers and traffickers operating within the Union Territory.

The seized property, belonging to the notorious drug dealer Shamas Din, alias Bacchu, son of Maskeen Ali, hailing from Rakh Barotian tehsil in District Samba, stands as a stark reminder of the consequences awaiting those engaged in illicit drug trafficking.

This operation, conducted under sections 68-E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, was prompted by multiple FIRs filed at PS Vijaypur, highlighting the extensive criminal activities attributed to Shamas Din.

The investigation, led by vigilant officers from Police Station Vijaypur, uncovered substantial evidence linking the confiscated property to proceeds from drug trafficking. The meticulous inquiry established the backward linkage of the property to the accused, underscoring the administration’s unwavering determination to dismantle the infrastructure supporting drug trade in the region.

The proactive stance adopted by the Samba administration has garnered widespread appreciation from the local populace, who view this operation as a pivotal step towards ensuring a safer and drug-free environment for all residents. The swift and decisive action against drug smugglers sends a strong message of deterrence, reaffirming the government’s commitment to safeguarding the well-being of its citizens.

The property attachment operation was carried out by a dedicated team led by Rohit Gupta SDPO Vijaypur, Sudesh Kumar Tehsildar Vijaypur, and executed by Zaheer Mushtaq SHO Vijaypur and his team. Their exemplary efforts reflect the collaborative approach adopted by law enforcement agencies and administrative bodies in the ongoing battle against drug-related crimes.

As the government continues its crackdown on narco smugglers across the Union Territory, it calls for the cooperation of all residents and stakeholders in the Nasha-Mukt campaign. Together, with collective efforts and unwavering resolve, a brighter, drug-free future for Samba and beyond can be realized.
