James Gunn to helm director’s chair for ‘Superman: Legacy’

For the fans of Superman franchise, there is a good news as a widely popular filmmaker, James Gunn, who came to light after working with Marvels Studios for Guardians of the Galaxy, has confirmed that he will be directing the upcoming project of DC titled
“Superman: Legacy.”

James took to his official Twitter handle to reveal the good news with his fans and followers. The 56-year-old filmmaker shared a representational image of Superman character. He captioned the tweet, “Yes, I’m directing Superman: Legacy to be released on July 11, 2025. My brother Matt told me when he saw the release date he started to cry. I asked him why. He said, “Dude, it’s Dad’s birthday.” I hadn’t realized.”

For those unversed, the story of the movie focuses on the journey of the Superhero as he attempted to make sense of both his aristocratic Kryptonian heritage as well as his small town, Kansas City.

According to the official synopsis of the film, Superman: Legacy tells “the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
