The national-level review meeting of the Atal Groundwater Scheme, run by the Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India, was held virtually today under the chairmanship of Secretary Ms. Devashish Mukherjee. On behalf of the state of Haryana, Dr. Satbir Singh Kadian, Project Director from Irrigation Bhawan Sector 5 Panchkula, along with his team, was present together and explained in detail the efforts being made by the Haryana State under the Atal Groundwater Scheme.

Dr. Kadian presented the details of the strategy to implement all activities in the falling groundwater level, over-exploited, and water-stressed areas in Haryana. The commitment of the Haryana Government to groundwater management to stop the falling groundwater level and raise the groundwater level was presented in the plan. In this direction, by establishing coordination with all the schemes of various departments and explaining the status of implementation, he also assured that it would be completed on time.

The DC of one district of each state by the Government of India gave instructions to present the situation of the district. Subsequently, on behalf of Haryana state, Deputy Commissioner of Sirsa district, Partha Gupta, presented the situation of the district in detail, including the innovative efforts made at the district level, i.e., I.E.C. The activities and training provided to the concerned people were also explained in detail.

During the review meeting, the efforts being made by Haryana under the Atal Groundwater Scheme were appreciated by Secretary Ms. Devashish Mukherjee. After the review, Dr. Kadian directed the team of Atal Groundwater to determine the targets in a time-bound manner and achieve them. The supply should be done on a quality basis so that Haryana can rank first in the country.
