There are only 11 days left for voting in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections. In this situation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has completely entered the election arena with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s face. The party is organising rallies of Modi in the districts where it faced defeat in the previous assembly elections. This week, Home Minister Amit Shah and the party’s National President J.P. Nadda will also hold major rallies in Rajasthan. Prime Minister Modi will hold a rally in Baytu, Barmer on Wednesday. Similarly, on November 18, there will be rallies in Bharatpur and Nagaur.
PM Narendra Modi’s rallies are taking place in the three districts where the BJP won only 3 seats in previous elections. In the total of 25 seats in Barmer, Nagaur, and Bharatpur, the BJP suffered a decisive defeat on 22 seats. The top leaders will arrive in the districts this week to win 61 assembly seats. Out of these, BJP lost 45 seats in the previous assembly elections.
Triangular contest in Baytu:
Barmer is considered the Jat land of western Rajasthan because the Jat community has always had influence here. In the Baytu constituency of Barmer, the Congress has nominated the current MLA Harish Choudhary and the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) has fielded Umedaram as its candidate for the 2018 elections. Meanwhile, BJP has shown confidence in a new face this time, announcing Balaram Mund as its candidate. Looking at the stature of all three, a triangular contest is visible this time. The presence of PM Narendra Modi’s rally in Baytu is expected to benefit the BJP candidate. However, the PM will strive to win all the seats in the entire district.
6 out of 7 seats in Barmer are with Congress:
Barmer district has a total of 7 assembly seats, and Congress has a stronghold on 6 of them. In the previous elections, BJP’s Hamir Singh won the Siwana seat and opened the party’s account in Barmer. In 2018, Mevararam Jain from Barmer, Harish Choudhary from Baytu, Padmaram from Chauhatan, Hemaram Choudhary from Gudhamalani, Madan Prajapat from Pachpadra, and Ameen Khan from Shiv became MLAs. All these 6 MLAs won on Congress party tickets.
BJP was completely defeated in the Bharatpur district:
PM Modi is coming to Bharatpur on November 18. There are 8 assembly seats in Bharatpur district. BJP failed to open its account on these 8 seats in the previous elections. Congress won 7 seats here, and with the Congress alliance, Subhash Garg of the National People’s Party won from Bharatpur City seat. In this way, Congress was successful on all 8 seats.
2 out of 10 seats in Nagaur district are with BJP:
The path for BJP in Nagaur district is also very difficult. Therefore, the BJP, facing challenges in the Congress stronghold there, included Jyoti Mirdha in the party and made her the BJP candidate from Nagaur. In Nagaur district, Congress has control over 6 out of 10 seats. Meanwhile, Hanuman Beniwal’s party, the Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, has 2 seats. In 2018, Ruparam from Makrana and Mohanram Choudhary from Nagaur won, saving BJP’s face.
Amit Shah to campaign on 9 defeated seats:
In the previous assembly elections, BJP decided to send Firebrand leader and Home Minister Amit Shah to campaign in Tonk, Rajsamand, Ajmer, and Bundi to win the 9 seats where they faced defeat. Shah will hold rallies in Deoli, Tonk on November 16, along with Kumbhalgarh in Rajsamand. On the other hand, on November 18, he will shower criticism on Congress in Bundi and Ajmer districts. There are a total of 19 seats in these four districts, out of which BJP holds 10 seats. Congress or independents have won on 9 seats. In these, only 1 seat in Tonk out of 4 is under BJP’s control. Similarly, in Rajsamand, out of 4 seats, Congress won on 2, and BJP on 2. Likewise, out of 3 seats in Bundi, BJP has control over 2. In Bundi district, Congress has only 1 seat, while in Ajmer’s 8 seats, BJP has control over 5, independents on 1, and Congress on 2.
Nadda for 14 defeated seats in three districts:
On the other hand, BJP’s national president J.P. Nadda’s tour of Rajasthan has also been decided. He will hold rallies in Mahwa and Sikrai in Dausa on November 16. The next day, on November 17, he will tour the home district of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer. Out of the 5 seats in Dausa, Congress won on 4 and independent Om Prakash Huddla won on 1 in the previous elections.
In this way, the BJP failed to open its account in Dausa district. On the other hand, in Jodhpur’s 10 seats, BJP won only 2. Out of these, Congress won on 7 and RLP on 1. Similarly, Congress won both seats in Jaisalmer.
