In a routine checking campaign at the Firozpur jail, intoxicating substances and mobile phones have been recovered from the jail, prompting the jail administration to initiate a routine checking campaign. According to information, a touchscreen phone and some intoxicating substances have been seized from the jail barracks.
During routine checking, the jail administration recovered a phone, jarda (a type of tobacco), cool lip (another form of tobacco), and packets of beedis. Assistant Superintendent Nirmaljit Singh, in a complaint to the City Police Station, stated that during routine checking of barracks on Sunday, a touchscreen phone was found abandoned. In addition to this, 40 packets of jarda tobacco, 2 packets of cool lip tobacco, and a packet of beedis thrown from outside were seized. The police have registered a case under the Jail Act against the unknown suspects related to this seizure.
