Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, during his campaign in Rajasthan on Sunday, criticized the Congress for its approach towards “terror suspects,” labeling it as a significant issue plaguing the nation.
In his first electoral venture outside Uttar Pradesh since the announcement of the 2024 Lok Sabha election schedule, Adityanath emphasized the Congress’s stance on imposing curfews and accused it of neglecting the needs of the poor while allegedly favoring terrorists. He asserted these views during his well-attended rallies in Rajasthan, asserting, “Congress party is the biggest problem of the country and imposing curfew is part of its DNA. It would starve the poor but feed biryani to terrorists.”
Furthermore, Adityanath lamented the Congress’s historical perspective on revered figures like Lord Ram and Lord Krishna, claiming they were deemed imaginary under Congress rule. He criticized the Congress’s governance, alleging it solely focused on exploiting the rights of the impoverished.
Reflecting on the BJP’s performance in previous elections in Rajasthan, Adityanath highlighted the widespread support received, indicating a national sentiment favoring the return of the Modi government.
Adityanath underscored the achievements of the Modi administration, particularly in bolstering national security by securing borders and countering terrorist activities. He claimed that the current environment in India has made it inhospitable for terrorism, citing recent reports of successful operations against terrorists.
Moreover, he lauded the progress in regions like Kashmir, noting increased tourist activity and the safe conduct of religious pilgrimages, such as the Amarnath Yatra and visits to Mata Vaishno Devi.
Adityanath extended invitations to visit Ayodhya, emphasizing the cultural and religious significance of the city.
In Bharatpur, Adityanath contrasted the Congress’s alleged neglect of the poor with the BJP’s efforts in providing free ration to millions of underprivileged citizens. He highlighted the absence of curfews or riots in Uttar Pradesh and celebrated cultural events like the Kanwar Yatra and the completion of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
He credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for ushering in a “new India,” characterized by security, progress, and employment opportunities for its citizens.
Adityanath expressed gratitude for the fulfillment of a centuries-old aspiration with the construction of the Ram temple and credited the BJP government, particularly Modi, for this achievement.
He praised Modi’s engagement with soldiers during festivals like Holi and Diwali, emphasizing the government’s commitment to national security.
Adityanath urged voters to support Modi to ensure the nation’s strength and prosperity, highlighting the BJP’s welfare schemes benefiting millions of poor and marginalized individuals, including health insurance, financial assistance for farmers, housing initiatives, and access to basic amenities like electricity and cooking gas.
