Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024: Voting Underway Across 288 Seats
Voting for the single-phase Maharashtra Assembly elections began at 7 am and will end at 6 pm today. Polling is taking place in all 288 constituencies of the state.
Candidates and Contesting Parties
A total of 4,136 candidates, including 2,086 independents, are vying for seats. The BJP is contesting 149 seats, Shiv Sena 81, and the NCP 59. Congress has fielded 101 candidates, while Shiv Sena (UBT) and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) are contesting 95 and 86 seats, respectively. The BSP is contesting 237 seats.
Voter Turnout and Election Results
Maharashtra has around 9.7 crore registered voters. The election results will be declared on November 23, 2024.
