As the new season of Indian Premier League begins, it brings a lot of twists and turns in the game with a lot of ups and downs but most importantly it brings unity amongst everyone who loves cricket.

This year’s IPL inaugural took place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on 22nd March 2024. The opening ceremony started with the sensational performances by Sonu Nigam, AR Rahman, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Mohit Chauhan.

The first match was between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore where RCB won the toss and chose to bat first.

Playing 11 (CSK)- Ruturaj Gaikwad (c), Rachin Ravindra, Ajinkya Rahane, Daryl Mitchell, Ravindra Jadeja, Sameer Rizvi, MS Dhoni (wk), Deepak Chahar, Tushar Deshpande, Maheesh Theekshana, Mustafizur Rahman.

Playing 11 (RCB)- Faf du Plessis (c), Virat Kohli, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat (wk), Karn Sharma, Alzarri Joseph, Mayank Dagar, Mohammed Siraj.

The opening pair for RCB was Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. CSK got an early breakthrough as Mustafizur Rahman picked 2 wickets in the 5th over of Faf du Plessis who got out after scoring 35 and Rajat Patidar who got out on a duck.

By the end of the powerplay RCB scored 42 runs and lost 3 wickets. Whilst the match, Virat Kohli became the first India batsman to score 12000 runs in the T20 format.

After losing early wickets to CSK, Anuj Rawat and Dinesh Karthik contributed crucial runs for the team. Anuj Rawat scored 48 runs and got run out on the last ball of the innings. Anuj’s and Dinesh’s partnership help RCB score 173 runs by the end of the innings and RCB lost 6 wickets in the first innings of the match and gave the target of 174 runs to CSK.

Mustafizur Rahman took 4 wickets in his 4 overs with the economy of 7.25 while Jadeja bowled with the economy of 5.25.

The opening pair of CSK was Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra.  After a steady start by CSK, RCB got a breakthrough as Ruturaj Gaikwad got out in the 4th over after scoring 15 runs by Yash Dayal (impact player). Cameron Green broke the steady partnership of Ajinkya Rahane and Daryl Mitchell as Ajinkya Rahane got out after scoring 27 runs in the 11th over.

CSK’s steady line up led to their win of the first match of IPL 2024 by 6 wickets. Shivam Dube (impact player) and Ravindra Jadeja stand not out till the end.

Cameron Green picked 2 wickets with the economy of 9 in the second innings and Mustafizur Rahman was the man of the match.
