Former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar seems worried about the form of Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma. He believes that Rohit should take a break.
Gujarat Titans easily surpassed Mumbai Indians by 55 runs yesterday, and once again Rohit Sharma failed to score substantial runs and got out on 2 runs.
The World Test Championship is approaching, so the form of Rohit Sharma is crucial for Team India as well. He is desperate to regain his lost form, so Gavaskar feels that the best way to re-discover his lost form is to take a breather.
“I would like to see some change in the batting order for the Mumbai Indians. Honestly, I would also say that Rohit should also take a break for the time being, and keep himself fit for the World Test Championship final. He can come back again for the last few matches, but right now, he should take a little bit of a breather himself,” Sunil Gavaskar said.
Gavaskar went on to say that I believe that at this stage he needs a little break so that he can come back with a fresh mind in the last three or four matches to find his rhythm, which will be crucial for the upcoming World Test Championship final to be held at The Oval, London.
Mumbai Indians haven’t clicked in this edition of the IPL as a unit and made a shaky start, and their bowling, especially in the death overs, has been a big concern for the team management. In the present situation, the Mumbai Indians need to play some quality cricket and depend on huge luck to seal their place in the IPL playoffs.
MI will have to perform extraordinarily both in batting and bowling and the next outings for the team are against the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium. It would be a do-or-die affair for MI.
