A 20-year-old youth committed a burglary in his neighborhood after being frustrated from his low-paying job. The accused was inspired by a crime show to swing into action and make easy money. Delhi police followed the case and nabbed him within 12 hours of the incident.
At about 08:00 PM, the complainant, Mohd. Fahimuddin reached home, the lock of the main gate was found broken. The almirah kept inside the room was also left open. On checking, the cash of around Rs 3 lacs, jewelry, and a mobile phone were found stolen.
During the investigation, the complainant was re-examined in detail to get any clue. During the technical investigation, CCTV footage of more than 200 CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity where the incident took place were checked and analysed. On the basis of clues so collected, an exhaustive search was carried out which resulted in the apprehending accused being identified as Mohd. Zaid, age-20 years from his house at Katra Hindu, Farsh Khana, Delhi recovered 100% of stolen articles and cash from his possession.
The investigation revealed that he was working for a small monthly salary of Rs 8000/- per month in a shop and was in a love affair with a girl, whom he was planning to marry on the coming valentine’s day. In order to fulfill the expenses of marriage and set up his own business, he was in need of a good amount of cash, but he could not arrange it through fair means despite many efforts.
According to the press statement: “Getting motivated by a crime TV program ‘Savdhan India’ and other crime based programs on Youtube, he decided to commit theft. For this, he first arranged a bunch of keys for opening the locks. He targeted a locked house on the evening of 18 January in the Farsh Khana area, Lahori Gate, Delhi. He then muffled his face and took necessary precautions to enter the house, from where he stole cash, jewelry and mobile phone.”
“Thereafter, he along with stolen articles reached his house. But subsequently got nabbed by the alert police team of PS Lahori Gate within a few hours of the incident. The stolen cash Rs 2,15,000/-, One gold Chain, One pair of Gold Ear Rings, One gold Ring and mobile phone,” the statement further read.
