As part of Indian Navy’s Mission Sagar, Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kesari entered Port Victoria, Seychelles to deliver a second consignment of essential medicine supplies at the request of the government of Seychelles. INS Kesari is carrying essential medicines which cater to most of the common ailments found in the islands like blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, cancer and other cardiovascular diseases. Apart from medicines consignment, the Indian government has also donated two ‘air evacuation pods’, indigenously designed by the Indian Navy, to the Health Care Agency (HCA), Seychelles to help in urgent medical evacuations.

The ship handed over all supplies and the pods to the Seychelles government at a ceremony held at Port Victoria which was attended by General (Retd) Dalbir Singh Suhag, the High Commissioner of Indiato the secretary of state for foreign affairs and other representatives of Seychelles government. The unloading of supplies was done in accordance with the restrictions and precautions in force as laid down by the Seychelles government towards Covid-19 prevention. No personnel embarked or disembarked the ship during her port call. Through Mission SAGAR, India has helped many countries especially from the Indian Ocean Region (IOR) and reflects the commitment to further strengthening its multi-faceted people oriented development partnership with Seychelles and other countries of the IOR region.
